Can health be packaged into a convenience product?

July 12, 2021 by aletheam 1 Comment

Can health be conveniently packaged into a product we buy off the shelf? No. Health is multifactorial and essentially, we often need to make changes to improve health. The old “doing the same thing produces the same results” is kind of true. Health requires change. Change can be hard and we tend to make changes when the current reality becomes too uncomfortable. Change can be initiated from a health diagnosis, mental health decline, job change, meeting new people, being inspired by others, so many factors that can initiate change. None of these practitioners have been trained in nutrition or considered the effects of this dietary advice. The effects of the comments and the advice lead to stress, revisited weight trauma, self-esteem loss, and unhealthy eating practices and relationships to food. Let alone the impact these diets can have on the gut microbiome and hormonal health. What is BMI? It is body mass index, an equation designed by an astronomer and statistician to categorise people ...

Essential Tips for COVID-19

March 26, 2020 by aletheam Leave a Comment

We are currently in unprecedented times and terms such as “social distancing” and “self-isolation” have become part of a standard conversation. For most of us, we are used to living in a fast-paced world, where everything is available at the click of a mouse, tap on a phone and an abundance of whatever the hell you want in all of our stores. This change can be tricky for us and slowing down can be difficult. I have found it helpful to focus on what I can do to make the most of this time and focus on how I can remain in good health, mentally and physically. That’s the organised Cancerian coming out in me! Keeping Sane in Home Isolation! Daily routine -  implement work time, family time and exercise. Get showered and dressed ...

Doing healthy things isn’t always easy. One thing Doing healthy things isn’t always easy.

One thing I often hear is, “It’s easy for you because you love exercising.” Honestly? Not always 😂

There are plenty of days I don’t feel like running, strength training or preparing a healthy meal. But I know that I don’t have to enjoy every part of the process to enjoy the benefits. Sometimes the journey can suck.

The same is true for so many healthy habits.

🥣 Eating breakfast with protein & fibre.
💧 Drinking enough water.
🥗 Planning meals ahead.
🚶 Going for a walk instead of scrolling or staring at the tv.

They don’t have to feel easy all the time.

Long term change is sometimes doing things when every ounce of you doesn’t feel like it.

If you find healthy habits challenging, welcome to being a human.
